Tjaden Tromp participated in the 24th edition of the Passion for Speed Festival on 1 February 2025, competing in the Formula Vee South Africa (FVSA) category at Zwartkops Raceway. Sharing the #50 car with Shaun van der Linde for the weekend, the two drivers gave fans exciting performances despite the weekend races not counting towards the 2025 season standings. These races, however, were a fantastic opportunity for Tjaden to prepare for the upcoming championship season, which kicks off on 1 March at the same venue.

With limited track time, Tjaden qualified his Pretoria Noord Toyota-backed Formula Vee in sixth place—a solid position in a competitive field. On Saturday, the duo competed in two exciting races. Tjaden took the wheel for Race 1 while Shaun piloted the car for Race 2, with the pair securing a solid fifth-place overall finish.

Though the event was not part of the official championship calendar, it served as a valuable learning experience for Tjaden who heads into his second season of Formula Vee racing. The event was ideal for Tjaden to fine-tune his skills and connect with fans and supporters.

The teenager from Kempton Park said: “I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the organisers of the Passion for Speed Festival for putting together such a fantastic event. I’m also incredibly grateful to my personal sponsors—Pretoria North Toyota, DOE Quality Engine Parts, Solergy Solutions, Man VS Machine, Solar Charge Solutions, and Basically Branding. Their support is invaluable, and I’m looking forward to what the 2025 season has in store!”

With this successful pre-season event under his belt, Tjaden is now ready to tackle the challenges of the upcoming championship and give it his all when the season begins next month.
